My First Christmas

Mommy, Daddy, & Emerson traveled to Grandma & Grandpa Hubbell's house Saturday morning to celebrate her first Christmas. We managed to get her to tear open a few presents on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, but for the most part she just sat back and took in all of the excitement. She wasn't all that interested in sleeping in her pack and play, so most every night she managed to find her way into bed with Mommy & Daddy. Not the best resolution, but at 2am you will do anything to get some sleep, right?

She is also mastering the art of feeding herself. We have been giving her Cheerios and Gerber puffs, and have found joy in watching her manipulate these little shapes in her hand and attempt to drop them into her mouth. She's mastered getting the food to her mouth, but still forgets to actually let go of it sometimes! If you look close at the picture of her with the red hat you can see a tiny remnant of food on her chin.

We headed back home on Tuesday so Emerson could open her Santa presents & the rest of her gifts from us. The drive home proved to be a little tricky as the Twin Cities was blanketed with some timely snowfall. Overall it was a great long weekend and hopefully a memorable first Christmas for little Emerson.

Is That You Santa Claus?

Emerson is 9 Months Old!

Emerson had her 9 month appointment on her 9 month birthday today. She is weighing 18lbs., 2oz. & is 27 1/4" long. She also received two shots today :-(

She is crawling all over the house and trying new foods all the time. Her favorite people food by far is cheese. She also does this silly thing where she closes her eyes really tight and tosses out a cheesy smile. Not sure where she learned that! She is currently working on her 4th & 5th teeth, which have proven to be quite challenging.

With Christmas just around the corner, we're excited to see how she handles all of the excitement.

Thanksgiving Weekend

This past week Emerson enjoyed her first Thanksgiving! She dined on bits of turkey, mashed potatoes, and squash. The next day she also experienced her first day after Thanksgiving sales as her and Mommy headed out in search of bargains.

Mommy, Daddy, and Emerson spent this past weekend at Grandma and Grandpa Hubbell's. She had the chance to spend a lot of time with her cousins and aunties and uncles too.

We went to the "Home for the Holiday's" parade in Downtown Cloquet on Saturday night, though it was a bit too chilly for her to be out there the entire time. We think she enjoys all of the attention she gets, plus it's nice for her to see some faces other than Mommy and Daddy's all of the time.

Macy's Holiday Display

The top picture is of Emerson and Ava as we visited the Macy's Holiday Display. Emerson enjoyed looking at all of the lights and animated characters. The bottom picture is Emerson's latest infatuation. She doesn't stick her tongue all the way out, but rests it in between her lips. Too silly.

Tonight she tried shredded cheese and whole wheat noodles for the first time. She was a big fan of the cheese...the noodles...not so much.

Emerson is 8 Months Old!

Today our Emerson turns 8 months old! It is incredible to see just how much she's changed in a short amount of time. She is working on her 3rd tooth right now, which has just cracked the surface of her gum. She's also trying to master the art of crawling, but once she's up on all fours all she get do is rock back & forth. She keeps us constantly entertained with her smiles and silly antics!

Emerson is winding down after another fun weekend with Mommy & Daddy. She has fully mastered sitting up and seems to be on the verge of crawling. She's able to get up on all fours, but can't seem to get her legs and arms to work together!

Buzz Buzz

Emerson tested out her Bumble Bee costume this past Friday as we went to a Halloween party with Ryan, Liz, and Regan Friederich. She loved seeing all of the other kids and their costumes and actually managed to sit still long enough for us to get a picture.

Apple Orchard

This afternoon, Emerson took Mommy and Daddy to Emma Krumbee's Orchard in Belle Plaine. While there we saw ponies, a camel, and lots of apples and pumpkins! It was a beautiful fall day in Minnesota, perfect for picking apples.

Seattle

Emerson experienced her first plane ride as we headed to Seattle for a family trip. She did very well while on the plane, but by Saturday the time change and disruption to her schedule seemed to upset her at times. In her defense we did keep her running almost all day, so a little fussiness is understandable. She was even able to see what Canada was all about as we spent an afternoon in Vancouver. It was great to be able to spend all this time with her while exploring a new city.

Weekend in Duluth

Last weekend, Emerson experienced the city of Duluth for the first time. She, Mommy & Daddy stayed at a cottage with some friends over the weekend. On Saturday, she spent the night with Grandpa & Grandma Hubbell. Here are some pictures Grandma took of her & Daddy's childhood bear.

Emerson is 6 months old!!

Emerson turns 6 months old today! It is hard to believe how much she has grown since we brought her home in March. Her little personality is really starting to show, as are her two front teeth!!

Sick Day

Emerson stayed home from daycare Wednesday & Thursday while getting over her cold. Poor little lady has been hassled with a runny nose & a cough since Tuesday night, but tonight she seems to be feeling better. We managed a couple of pics & even a video to share with you all.

My First State Fair

Mommy and Daddy took Emerson to her first Minnesota State Fair this weekend. She was a perfect little girl despite the warm temperatures and large crowds. We spent the rest of the Labor Day weekend hanging out around home, and getting in one last BBQ before the summer officially ends.

Emerson now has her two bottom teeth coming through. Just don't ask to see them, when you do she tends to hide them with her tongue!

Rainy Saturday

It's been raining almost all day today, but we managed to sneak out and run some errands in between raindrops. Our weekly trip to Target was of course on the agenda. Due to daycare being closed yesterday, Emerson and Daddy spent the day together. She came with to get my haircut, and we went on a couple of walks. We may also have our first tooth coming through. We'll be sure to keep everyone posted.

Give Peas a Chance

Peas were on the menu tonight as Emerson gave vegetables a try for the very first time. After an initial grimace she warmed to the new taste experience. We're starting to think she'll eat anything we place in front of her!

Little Traveler

This weekend we hit the road again, this time to Grandma and Grandpa Hubbell's house in Cloquet. We went to Dad's favorite place to eat, Gordy's, and hung out with my cousins and aunties and uncles. Grandma bought me a new dress and a new toy too!

5 Months Old!

Emerson is 5 months old today! Tonight she is going to see her first fireworks display and will visit Grandpa and Grandma Hubbell this weekend.

My Trip to the Cabin

This weekend Mommy and Daddy took me to the Kern's cabin near Leech Lake. It was a long drive but we had a lot of fun! I also experienced my first camp fire and watched all of the bigger kids eat Smores! They looked yummy, someday I hope to have one.

A Weekend of Firsts

Emerson experienced many firsts this weekend. On Saturday she attended her first parade with Mom and Dad. We went to the Leprechaun Days Parade in Rosemount. Aside from being scared of the fire engine horn we think she enjoyed herself. Sunday she experienced her first real food too. Mommy and Daddy fed her some baby oatmeal cereal. We think she enjoyed chomping on the spoon as much as the cereal!

She's also started to roll from her back to her tummy now (see picture), so now we really have our work cut out for us!

Hi Everyone!

Emerson here again! I received a clean bill of health at my appointment last Saturday, that was the good news. The bad news is I was deemed well enough to get my shots! I was a brave little girl for the first one, but I didn't particularly care for the next three. Mommy and Daddy helped me through it though. Later that afternoon I watched my cousin Chase play baseball, then on Sunday I went shoe shopping with Mommy and Auntie Tasha. Daddy took this picture of me tonight after we got home from daycare.

Little Sweetie

Emerson's 4 month appointment last week went fairly well, but we learned she does have her first ear infection to go along with the cold she's been carrying for the past two weeks. We've been giving her an antibiotic for the ear infection, and hooking her up to a nebulizer to break apart her cold. She has been doing pretty well with all of these new experiences.

The good news is she's right on track with regard to physical and cognitive development. She weighed 15lbs 10oz and measured 24" long.

Last weekend she attended her 3rd Twins game of the season and spent some time with Grandma and Grandpa Hubbell.

4 Months Old!

Little Emerson turns 4 months old today! Mom and Dad celebrated by going to Cold Stone for some ice cream. Her 4 month check up is this Friday and we will be sure to post more that day.
